Social Classes

DANSS runs fun, social classes on Sunday evenings at Thistle Hall in Wellington for beginner and intermediate-level dancers who want to do same-sex ballroom and Latin American dancing. 

Come along! You don’t need a partner and entry is by koha. 

The beginners' class starts at 7:00 pm and the intermediate class is from 8:00 pm.

Thistle Hall is on the corner of Cuba and Arthur Streets – you’ll find us on the first floor.

Same-Sex Dance Competitions

Since 2009, DANSS 2008 Incorporated has run an annual same-sex dance competition in Wellington. This is the only dedicated same-sex dance competition in New Zealand. The event is for all levels of dancers and the emphasis is on participation and fun. 

We regret that the COVID-19 emergency means we have had to cancel the 2020 competition scheduled for 16 May. We will now look to 2021 to run our next competition.
